New Jersey/New York

Hello, avid readers! I am sure you missed my updates.  I sure did miss living out of a suitcase!

Skyline of New York City

I just returned from a jaunt to the great state of New Jersey (followed by a brief stint in New York)! I went to New Jersey for work, and the office where my meeting was held was next to a teamster's union office.  Classic New Jersey.

I was hoping to see some New Jersey celebrities, like the cast of "Jersey Shore," Governor Chris "2016" Christie, or the famous "Sandy" everyone keeps talking about (sounds like a major bitch!), but alas, no celeb sightings.  There was also an almost-emergency regarding my bladder and a backed-up Lincoln Tunnel, but all turned out fine.  Thank you to the stranger who let me use her hotel key to pee in the DoubleTree's lobby bathroom!

I spent the weekend in New York, which provided many opportunities for laughter.  The first major laugh came in the form of litter on the subway platform.  Next to each other, just hanging out and minding their own business, was a packet of equal and a maxi pad.  This allowed my friend Dara and I to participate in the new fun game "Too much information...or not enough?"

Obviously I made sure to Instagram this amazing moment

The main event for the weekend was to celebrate the 30th birthday of my friend Jonathan.

It wouldn't be someone's birthday without over-sized birthday paraphernalia!

Jonathan has never eaten a PB&J sandwich, so I made him a PB&J sandwich cake.  Below are some pictures.  The best part of this story: Jonathan is NOT allergic to peanut butter!

This is what the cake looked like - betcha wouldn't know it was a cake and not a sandwich!

This is Jonathan eating his first ever PB&J 'sandwich'.
I stayed in Brooklyn for the weekend, which provided me with some rich cultural experiences.  My favorite Brooklyn moment was when a woman walked into the grocery store and asked the sales clerk "Do you have any additional seaweed snacks besides what are on display?"  I audibly laughed out loud and am so happy I witnessed such a classic Brooklyn comment - it really made the trip worth it.
